Give or Take?
Do you want to receive anything?
More joy? More money? More love? More friends? More wisdom?
You can do this: Give away exactly the same thing that you want to receive.
Newton’s 3rd law of motion states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
This is how the universe works. You receive whatever you give. Even money.
And the better news? The Holy Bible says that you will receive more than what you give.
The Bible advises us to give 10% to God. I have been following this fantastic guideline since I started attending the Feast which is organized by the Light of Jesus Family.
Tithing, according to Bro. Bo Sanchez, is a declaration that all things—including your life—belong to God. God owns your life and everything in it. When you give 10% to God, you are saying that 100% belongs to God.
God is not after your money. He has no need of it. But your money represents value. What is it that you value most? When you make God your first expense, you are declaring that God is first in your life.
Even when life was hard, and I was struggling to support a family of eleven, I tithed. Because I know that God cannot be outdone in His generosity. Whatever I give away, God gives back to me many times over.
There is an absolute law written in the fabric of the universe: “When you give, you will receive a reward.” Always. Without exception. Sure, there may be delays. Sometimes it will take a long time. But be assured, the reward will always come.
When you give something away, you open up space in your heart and in your life, which can be filled with better things.
According to the laws of nature and physics, empty or unfilled spaces are not natural. Whenever there is a void, the universe will fill up that space, which reminds me of Aristotle, when he said, “Nature abhors a vacuum.” The universe abhors space.
So give. And create space. So you can receive more.
But do not give out of the need to be loved and appreciated. Give out of love, and you will receive love. Real generosity means giving out of love, which fills your life with more love.
Generosity brings you closer to God. For where your treasure is, your heart follows. When your money from tithing goes to God, your heart goes to God, as well.
God gave you all that you have. When you leave this world, you will give it all back. Everything you own is just lent to you; you are a steward. As a steward, you use His material blessings for His purpose and glory. This is what tithing means.
So give. Because you love!
